The most astonishing feature in the iPhone 4S, believe it or not, has been the digital voice assistant Siri. Siri has been receiving new extensions since to iOS and has set apart the iPhone 4S from its competitors. The latest untethered jailbreak for A5 devices has opened up a world of possibilities and extensions to Siri which has been evident with the released and upcoming tweaks.

Now a new Siri tweak by the name of ‘Lingual’ is going to offer functionality that is yet to be seen in other Siri-related tweaks. The tweaks will be available as a plugin for Assistant

Extensions mod, which for released recently, enabling users to dictate a word or phrase to Siri and request translation real time for one of the 35 supported languages. ‘K3A’ released AssistantExtensions which is available for download at Cydia for free. It offers additional Siri functions and allow developers to write plugins to hook into the Extension tweak which is exactly what Lingual will do.

Before Lingual will function, users will need to have AssistantExtensions installed as a pre-requisite. Developed by CodeThemed, the Lingual plugin will then be activated using the standard Siri methods. Users can say “translate [phrase] to [language]” or “what is [phrase] in [language]” and Siri is going to respond instantly with the required translation. If the plugin works effectively, it is going to be very fruitful.

Lingual is now available in Cydia, and requires a pre-installation of AssistantExtensions which is free of charge.

It turns out that the end of the world won't come courtesy of an asteroid after all. By all accounts, it’ll be a slow, drawn-out affair related to the fact that there are no expensive things left to burn.
Twinkle, the floating space rock in AstroComet, may appear to lend weight to the asteroid armageddon theory with his sinister grin, but it turns out the game’s not...

There are quite a few variations of the classic tile matching games on the iPhone or iPad, but this is easily our favourite. While the lack of any sort of multiplayer annoys, there’s a huge range of board layouts to work through, the controls work very well and you can choose from a variety of different tile faces (including classic movie posters). The price feels a little high, but this is nevertheless a solid translation of a decades old game.

LostWinds for iPad, originally a 2008 WiiWare release for the Nintendo Wii, is now available on mobile platforms. Despite the game’s appearance, music and otherwise gorgeous presentation, it appears to be more successful for the Wii than the iPad – primarily in terms of how difficult the controls are on the mobile version.

The UIAlertSheet, and UIActionSheet API’s can be difficult and cumbersome to use – often requiring excessive amounts of source code with all the delegates, callbacks, and switches required.
Blocks can definitely make these components much easier to use, and there are a number of implementations out there.  Recently I received a submission of a block based library, and I liked this one quite a bit – mainly because of the added button types, and the simple syntax for programming buttons.
The control is BlockAlertsAndActionSheets from Gustavo Ambroso, and is buil

Definitely a lot easier than creating UIAlertSheet’s and UIActionSheet’s with their API’s in the iOS SDK.

We have been getting to know Siri since October 2011 when the iPhone 4S was launched. There is no denying that Siri is a great addition to the iPhone with its intelligent voice assistant being able to analyze voice commands and perform specific tasks based on this audible user instruction. A lot of people however still aren't convinced and many people say it is the lack of scope that is leaving them on the bench where Siri is concerned.

When the iPhone 4s and Siri were launched the software was billed and advertised as a personal assistant that would let you send messag

es, schedule meetings, make phones calls and a lot of other impressive things. One of the major benefits was the ability to talk to Siri like a real person forming full sentences to instruct the software of what you wanted it to do. Siri would then analyze the sentence, understand it and process it. For a lot of things Siri works great but unfortunately the technology has not been integrated deeply enough into the iOS and there are some things that we would love Siri to be able to do that it just can't.

The jailbreak community have as always stepped forward and we are starting to see some great Siri-based tweaks popping up in Cydia. Some of these add additional power to Siri by hooking into certain settings and allowing users to launch specific applications using voice commands.

Apple made a big deal about the fact that they were partnering with Twitter to deeply integrate this social service into iOS. After the initial excitement died down all users really got was native account registering through settings and a framework for developers which negates the need to deal with Twitter's unfriendly APIs. IOS developer Tyler Nettleton posted on his Twitter account to see if any of his followers would be interested in a tweak that would allow Siri to write and post tweets.

It seems Nettleton's tweak allows users to activate Siri and simply say “tweet...” followed by a message which is immediately posted to twitter. This tweak has not been completed as yet but it sounds great and very promising indeed and we can't wait till it is released to the public. Of course you will need to have a jailbroken iPhone 4S to use it but that shouldn't be a problem as there are a number of jailbreak options available.

In the iTunes App Store there are plenty of iPad apps designed for productivity, but those that stand out for their ability to truly do so are in shorty supply.  Investing in one of these apps only to find you’ve made a poor purchase is a horrible feeling.
PDF Forms is different, in a grand way, giving one absolute control over your PDF files.
What PDF Forms offers is the ability to work with PDF documents and forms, commenting on PDF documents, completing forms, signing legal documents and sharing processed PDF documents via email or Dropbox.
Other features include:

Manage PDF documents using folders
Sign legal documents (contracts, notices, etc.)
Fill out various forms
Mark and comment any text or image in any PDF document
Split any PDF documents into separate PDF files
Share ready PDFs via e-mail or Dropbox

My favorite feature of the app is the signature pad option.  All one has to do is save a copy of your signature for later use on PDFs. Your saved signature can be resized and placed in the required area of any PDF form or contract with couple of taps.
Simply put, PDF Forms for iPad is a great way to edit PDF documents. For all who regularly work with PDF files, PDF Forms is a must-have iPad app.
